Cam Wedge

Set your trail camera at the right angle for ground-dwelling species.

A simple 3D-printed wedge designed to sit behind common trail cameras, allowing steeper downward angles for capturing small, ground-based animals. Developed in Aotearoa New Zealand, where many target species are easily missed by standard camera setups.

Print it yourself, or request a 3D-printed field-ready Cam wedge — the design is the same either way.

Print it yourself

Download the open-source file and print the Cam Wedge locally. The design is a single, robust part with no assembly required.

This option suits anyone with access to a 3D printer, or working through a local makerspace.

  • Can be printed in any colour or material suitable for your environment
  • No assembly required
  • Designed to work with common trail camera housings

Using the Cam Wedge in the field

Used to increase the downward angle of trail cameras when monitoring small, ground-dwelling species.

The wedge helps ensure animals pass through the centre of the frame rather than slipping beneath it.

Can be fastened to the tree
